November 20, 2025 Meeting Summary

7 PM at Brooklyn Law School, Room 603 and via Zoom

Seamus Campbell, President of IND, called the meeting to order at 7:05.

Results of November election: Our endorsed candidates did very well in New York City and Democrats in general won local and statewide races throughout the country.

Nominations for the forthcoming year’s Executive Board: The following were nominated:

President: Julia Elmaleh-Sachs First Vice President: Matthew Fairley Second Vice President: Karen Johnson Treasurer: Vicki Eastus Corresponding Secretary: Aileen Doherty/Maya Kornberg Recording Secretary: Lyn Hill

At Large Members: Steve Brounstein, Jan Combopiano, Cheryl Cook, Arielle Elmaleh-Sachs, Bridget Farrell, Hal Friedman, Javed Kesselman, Arthur Levy, Ilyssa Meyer, Joan Millman, Gregory Monte, Susannah Pasquantonio, Jason Shelly, Ira Weinstock, Danielle Zuckerman.

Additional nominations may be made at the December and January meetings.

D.A. Eric Gonzalez addressed the group, thanking IND for past support and reporting on accomplishments and future goals during his tenure.

Congressman Dan Goldman, addressed the group via Zoom, reporting on latest activities in Congress and in the district.



Seamus reported on his participation with Jason Shelly in the “Know Your Rights” campaign, which was sponsored by City Councilman Lincoln Restler and several community groups. The campaign was designed to teach local businesses their legal options for responding to ICE raids.



Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon addressed the group and discussed the status of several bills she is sponsoring.



Before, during and after the meeting, many members contributed shelf-stable food items to the Thanksgiving Food Drive, spearheaded by Maya Kornberg and sponsored by the Park Slope Civic Council.
