June 20, 2024 Meeting Summary

Seamus Campbell, President of IND, convened the meeting.

Senator Andrew Gounardes announced that the Governor had just signed both of social media children’s protection acts that he had sponsored.

A resolution in support of the Street Vendor Platform, discussed at the last general meeting, passed.

Greg Monte reported on UFT negotiations and meetings with the City Council.

Elizabeth Adams, deputy executive director for public affairs for Transportation Alternatives, discussed the latest developments with regard to congestion pricing and led a discussion on the topic.

Seamus Campbell announced that a court ruling will provide for the ERA amendment to be on the November ballot. A letter has been sent to Jay Jacobs requesting support for the amendment.

Hal Friedman announced that the Club had allocated $750 for Act Blue buses to go to upstate districts where volunteers will go door-to-door to support Democratic candidates.

Susannah Pasquantonio announced several events and opportunities to support Jo Anne Simon’s candidacy for reelection to the Assembly.
